3. How We Share or Disclose Information
We understand that your personal information is important. We share personal information with third parties only in the following circumstances:
With Other Users (Contest Context) In general, Spinras minimizes how much personal info is shared publicly or with other users. However, certain sharing is inherent to how the Service works:
- If you create a contest, basic information about you as the organizer (such as your Spinras username, display name, and any avatar) may be visible to participants so they know who is hosting the contest. Similarly, if you participate in a contest, the organizer might see your username or identifier among the entries.
- If you win a contest, your username (and possibly your name if you provided it) may be shared with the contest organizer and potentially announced to others. Organizers often announce the winner’s username publicly for transparency, especially on social media. By entering a spin, you acknowledge that your first name or username might be disclosed if you are the winner, for example, in a winner announcement post.
- We may provide the contest organizer with the winner’s contact information (such as email or social media handle) to facilitate prize delivery. For instance, if you win a physical prize, the organizer might need your email or shipping address – we would either ask you to provide it to them directly or, with your permission, share it on your behalf.
- Conversely, if you are an organizer, we might share your contact information with a winner solely for prize fulfillment (for example, if the winner needs to reach you or if you want to send an email from Spinras to the winner)
Service Providers We share information with third-party companies and individuals that perform services on our behalf, known as service providers or processors. These parties are bound by contractual obligations to process personal data only under our instructions and for the purposes we specify. Key categories of service providers we use include:
Payment Processors As noted, if you engage in financial transactions, a payment processing company (e.g., Stripe, PayPal) will receive your payment information to process payments or payouts. They may receive billing details like your name, credit card number, and transaction amount. We share only what is necessary for the transaction
Cloud Hosting and Infrastructure We use third-party hosting providers (such as AWS, Google Cloud, or others) to store and process data for the Service. Your information (including personal data and contest data) may be stored on their servers. These providers provide the physical or cloud infrastructure but do not access your data except for storage/backup
Email and Communications Providers We may use services to send out emails or notifications (for example, SendGrid, Mailgun, or similar services for transactional or marketing emails). They will process your email address and the content of the message as needed to deliver communications to you.
Analytics Providers As discussed (e.g., Google Analytics) to help us analyze usage. These providers may set cookies on our behalf and receive information about your interactions with our Service
Other Tools We might use other tools for logging errors, detecting crashes, customer support ticketing, etc., which might incidentally process some user data (like an IP or user ID in a log). These service providers are given access to information only as necessary to perform their functions, and they are not permitted to use it for other purposes. We do not allow them to use the personal information we share for their own marketing or other purposes
Business Partners and Integrations If Spinras offers integrations with or links to third-party services (for example, an option to share your contest on a social network, or to verify your follower count), we may share certain data with those services at your direction. For instance, if you decide to share a Spinras contest result on Twitter, we would interact with the Twitter API to post that content, which might involve sending your contest info and possibly your username to Twitter. Such actions are only taken with your explicit action (e.g., clicking a "share" button).
Legal Compliance and Protection We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to
- Comply with a legal obligation or respond to valid legal process (e.g., subpoenas, warrants, court orders).
- Respond to requests from public and government authorities, including to meet national security or law enforcement requirements.
- Protect and defend the rights, property, or safety of Spinras, our users, or the public. This includes enforcing our Terms of Service, investigating fraud, or assisting in preventing security or technical issues.
- In such cases, we will only share the information that is reasonably necessary and will, where legally permissible, attempt to notify you of such disclosure (for example, if we are not prohibited from doing so in the legal request).
Business Transfers If Spinras is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing due diligence, reorganization, bankruptcy, receivership, sale of company assets, or transition of service to another provider, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. For example, if another company acquires Spinras or its assets, personal data would likely be one of the assets transferred to that company. In such an event, we will ensure the successor entity is bound by terms similar to this Privacy Policy with respect to your personal information. We will also endeavor to notify you (for example, via email or a notice on our site) of any such change in ownership or control of your personal information.
With Your Consent We may share your personal information for any other purpose with your consent. For instance, if we ever want to post a user testimonial on our site featuring your name or if we partner with another company for a joint event where you explicitly sign up, we would do so only if you agree. You are in control – if you ask us to share data with a third party, we will do so only as instructed.
Aggregated or De-Identified Data We may also share information that has been aggregated or anonymized in such a way that it cannot reasonably be used to identify you. For example, we might publish stats like "X% of Spinras contests are for non-monetary prizes" or "the Service has Y number of users in 2025." Such information does not contain personal data and may be shared with partners, press, or used in marketing
Importantly, we do NOT sell your personal information to third parties for their own marketing or other independent use. We do not share your personally identifiable information with third parties for their direct marketing purposes unless you have provided consent.
